If there’s one thing we look for in a movie, it’s firepower. Character development takes a backseat as soon as we see the main character opening fire on a group of evildoers with some tricked out gun everyday folks like us only dream about owning.
So when we heard the bestselling zombie novel World War Z would be adapted into a feature film, we could barely contain our excitement. Like any good zombie flick, World War Z is packed with an arsenal of weaponry as humans fight to eradicate a zombie pandemic sweeping the entire planet. Even better, the film stars Brad Pitt, who along with wife Angelina Jolie has vocally supported the Second Amendment in the press. Doesn’t get much better than that.
But before you head out to the theater and throw down a few bucks, we thought it’d be nice to give you just a taste of some firearms you’ll see in World War Z. Don’t worry, we won’t spoil the movie for you, but this nine-gun preview will get you pumped up to see even more firepower.

CAR-15
A good rifle is a must in the Zombie Apocalypse, and the armed forces in World War Z have made a note of that. Several soldiers can be seen carrying custom CAR-15 carbines, which sport A2 upper receivers and 10-inch barrels.
FN Minimi Para
Of course, no zombie movie is complete without a little machine gun action, and World War Z doesn't disappoint. The FN Minimi Para is chambered in 5.56x45 and features a 200-round drum magazine. In the movie, the FN Minimi Para is wielded by Israeli soldiers fending off the living dead, standing in for the similar-looking IMI Negev.
Glock 17
The Glock 17 is known as one of the most widely used firearms of all time, so it makes sense a few should show up in World War Z. Brad Pitt's character, Gerry, wields a G17, as do several other characters throughout the film, alternating betwen Second and Third Generation models.
Jericho 941F
Desert Eagles may get tons of attention from movie gun aficionados, but how about some love for the so-called "Baby Eagle"? IWI's Jericho 941F, though bearing a cosmetic resemblance to the famous hand cannon, isn't nearly as cumbersome as the Desert Eagle. A 9x19mm version shows up in World War Z when one of the characters pops some zombies on a Belarus Airways plane.
M4A1 Carbine
Based on one of the most successful military rifle designs of all time, the M4A1 carbine is an excellent fighting tool with the ability to be outfitted with a plethora of tactical accessories. As such, Navy SEALs and U.S. Marines throughout the film are armed with M4A1s.
M16A2
Another iteration of the famous M16 line, the M16A2 makes numerous appearances throughout the film in the hands of U.S. armed forces, including one breathtaking scene in which the zombie horde stampedes toward human survivors.
M240D
Chambered in 7.62, this machine gun is more than capable of wiping out a swarm of zombies. That's pretty obvious in World War Z, in which the M240D appears mounted on helicopters hovering over the zombie horde.
Remington Model 700 BDL
Who says bolt-actions have no place in the Zombie Apocalypse? Remington's stalwart Model 700 comes in a wide variety of stock options and calibers, each tailored to a specific niche of hunters and shooters. But the producers of World War Z decided to go the classic route with the Model 700 BDL, which features a gorgeous American walnut stock and Remington's X-Mark Pro trigger.
Tavor CTAR-21
IWI made headlines around the shooting industry earlier this year when it announced its popular Tavor TAR-21 rifle would be made available in a civilian model. In World War Z, it becomes apparent why this platform is so popular. Israeli forces in the film wield the Tavor CTAR-21—a carbine version of the popular bullpup—as they fight off zombies. Chambered in 5.56 and weighing just 7 pounds, the CTAR-21 is lightweight defense option with enough stopping power against the living dead.
